Subject Arrested for Brandishing Knife at Joker's Casino

Arrested:  Sylvester, Eric D; 21 year of age male, Pasco address
Charge:  Assault 2nd Degree

Synopsis:

On April 12, 2013 at approximately 1:00 AM Richland officers responded to a report of a male subject that was refusing to leave Joker's Casino, 624 Wellsian Way.  The caller advised 911 that the subject had pulled a knife on security officers and threatened to cut them.

Upon arrival, officers found a subject, later identified as Sylvester, in the parking lot sitting inside a vehicle.  Three casino employees were also present.  Sylvester was detained as officers investigated the incident.

According to Joker's staff, Sylvester was displaying overt signs of intoxication and being aggressive towards other patrons.  He was approached by staff and escorted from the premise.  Once outside he again became agitated and pulled a 4 inch folding knife from his pocket.  He began waling towards the employees threatening to cut them with his knife.  A second male subject who appeared to be with Sylvester intervened and was able to calm him down.

Officers saw a knife laying on the floorboards of the car Sylvester was sitting in.  Based upon the evidence at the scene officers applied for and were granted a telephonic search warrant.  The knife was seized.

The Benton County Prosecutor's Office was called and confirmed a 72 hour hold on Sylvester.  He was booked into the Benton County jail on the above charges.
