Strong Armed Robbery

ARRESTED: Ceriale, Darrin, M. 50 yoa, Pasco

CHARGES: Robbery 2nd Degree

SYNOPSIS:
On 04/10/12 at about 8:50 pm Ceriale attacked a 16 year old boy who was walking in front of the apartments at 354 Van Giesen. During the physical altercation Ceriale removed the boy's backpack, then walked away east on Van Giesen. A witness called 911 and Richland PD Officers responded. Ceriale was contacted a few minutes after the call walking on George Washington Way with the backpack. Ceriale was arrested for Robbery and booked into the Benton County Jail. The victim suffered only minor scrapes and bruises and his backpack was returned to him.

Auto Theft Prevention Week

The Richland Police Department would like to remind you that this week is the first annual Auto Theft Prevention Week. Wednesday April 11th RPD staff will be handing out information on ways to reduce auto thefts and vehicle prowls from 7 AM to 10 AM. This will be held at the Richland Police Department, which is located at 871 George Washington Way. There will also be key chains, pens, and ice scrapers avaiable. For the first 100 people we will have steering wheel locks.

Arrest for burglary, assualt, and warrants

Arrested:
1. Johnson, Jeremy D. 35 Richland Resident
2. Jones, Dustin S. 26 Richland Resident

Charges: Burglary 1st degree, Assault, Outstanding Warrants

Synopsis: On 4/7/12 at about 1:30 AM, Richland Police responded to the 1400 block of Judson for a reported disturbance. Officers arrived to find that the front door to the residence had been kicked in and an adult male inside had been assaulted. The male victim was the brother of one of the suspects. Neither of the suspects had legal authority to the residence they broke into.

One of the suspects, Johnson, was located at his residence a couple of blocks away and was taken into custody.

The second suspect, Jones, was located after the Benton County Sherriff’s office K-9 unit arrived to assist. A K-9 track was done and Jones was located at his residence, a few blocks away. After initially refusing to come to the door, he eventually surrendered to police without incident. It was also learned that Jones had multiple warrants out for his arrest.

The cause of the dispute between the brothers stemmed from a domestic incident. Only minor injuries were reported to the victim.

Jones and Johnson were booked into the Benton County Jail on the above listed charges.

Firearm investigation and arrest

Arrested: Artz, Gabriel T. 20 Richland Resident

Charges: Unlawful possession of a firearm 1st degree, Possession of drug paraphernalia

Synopsis: On 4/6/12 at about 11:30 PM, Richland Officers responded to the apartment complex at 200 Waldron after receiving a report that a male there had been making threats against family members and was in possession of a loaded .357 revolver. The male was identified as Gabriel Artz, a previously convicted felon. It is illegal in Washington State for convicted felons to possess, purchase, or be in control of any firearm.

Officers surrounded the residence and were able to contact Artz by phone. Artz surrendered himself to police without incident.

A search warrant for the apartment was obtained and Officers recovered the loaded firearm and well as drug smoking paraphernalia.

Artz was booked into the Benton County Jail on the above listed charges.

Richland Armed Robbery

On 4/7/12 at approximately 1030 PM, Richland Police responded to 515 George Washington Way, The Economy Inn, for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred. Initial responders arrived on scene within 30 seconds of receiving the 911 call. The victims reported that they had gone to the location to purchase an item they had been told was for sale. When they arrived at the Motel, the 2 victims went into a room where they met with the 3 suspects. Two of the suspects displayed handguns and demanded money from the victims. They then fled the Motel with an undisclosed amount of cash and the clothing from one of the victims.

A K-9 track was conducted, which led the initial responders to believe that the suspects fled the area in an unknown vehicle.

The initial investigation led officers to locations in Richland, Kennewick, Pasco, and Benton County. Officers from each of these agencies were involved in attempting to locate the suspects and follow-up on initial leads. Despite this, no arrests have yet been made.

The suspects descriptions are as follows:

Suspect #1: White male in his early 20’s Approximately 5-06 190 Brown hair
Last seen wearing a black polo shirt and jeans

Suspect #2: Hispanic male 25-30 YOA Approximately 5-10 Heavyset, shaved head
Last seen wearing a blue Dickie shirt and blue shorts

Suspect #3: Hispanic male Heavyset
Last seen wearing a white and black checkered shirt, a black hat, and
Displaying a blue bandana from his pocket.

Suspects #2 and 3 were both armed with handguns. It is unknown if suspect #1 was armed.
