Robbery at Richland Kohl's

Richland Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at the Richland Kohl’s on Tapteal Drive.  On 4/24/14 at 11:53 AM, a male later identified as Daniel Hafer, was observed by a Kohl’s employee shoplifting store merchandise.  He attempted to leave the store without paying for the items and was confronted by the employee.  Hafer fled on foot and the employee followed.  Hafer told the employee that he had a gun but none was displayed.  Hafer was last seen in the area of Columbia Center Blvd. and Fowler. 
Officers investigating the incident were able to identify Hafer as the suspect.  Hafer is currently wanted by the Richland Police Department for Robbery 2nd.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Emergency Dispatch Center at 509-628-0333.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered In Richland

Arrested:  Allen, Angela D., 43 YOA, Kennewick resident 

Arrested:  Miller, Kristina G.   45 YOA, Kennewick resident  


On 4/23/14 at 12:47 PM, Richland Police observed a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder traveling south on George Washington Way near Swift.  The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Kennewick.  Officers stopped the vehicle on I-182 near the Columbia River Bridge. 

The vehicle was occupied by two females, later identified as Angela Allen who was driving and Kristina Miller, the passenger.  They were both taken into custody without incident.  After being taken into custody, Miller was found to be possessing a substance believed to be methamphetamine.  Allen stated that the vehicle was loaned to her by another person.  The vehicle has been impounded and officers are seeking a search warrant. 

Allen was booked into the Benton County Jail on a 72-hour investigation hold for possession of a stolen vehicle.  Miller was booked into the Benton County Jail on a 72-hour investigation hold for possession of a controlled substance.  The investigation is continuing.

Scam Alert

The Richland Police Department has received several calls today in reference to a well known scam.  Individuals are receiving telephone calls allegedly from the IRS.  The number provided is 585-444-7053 x2.  People who call the number are put forward to a voicemail and the majority of times its a males voice that has a heavy accent.  When you leave your name and number someone calls you back and requests your personal information. This is a common scam that has occurred nationwide.  If you receive this type of call please do not call it.  As with any scam we recommend you never provide personal information to anyone especially over the telephone. For more information or to learn how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud visit:
