Arrested:
Bryan Paul Aho 20 YOA Richland Resident
Charges:
Felon in possession of a firearm, assault on a police officer (assault 3rd), various narcotics charges, minor in possession of alcohol, and reckless endangerment.
Synopsis:
On early Tuesday morning 9-18-12 at 0603 hours officers were dispatched to Columbia Point Marina for a weapons call. An anonymous reporting party called to report that a male wearing a bandana, flannel shirt, and jeans, had broken a vehicle’s windows and fired a gun at the park.
When officers arrived, they observed a male matching that description sitting in the front seat of a small blue passenger car. Due to the possibility of a weapon being involved the male he was called out of the car in a high risk format. The intoxicated male was uncooperative and resisted with officers, including spitting into the face of one of the officers.
During the males struggling with officer’s, .22 caliber ammunition fell from his pocket. Also on his person were narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The male identified himself as Bryan Aho a convicted felon. Inside the vehicle appeared a pistol underneath the seat Bryan was in.
The vehicle was impounded for a search warrant, where a revolver, .22 caliber ammunition matching the revolver, drug and drug paraphernalia was located and secured. Aho was booked into the Benton County Jail on a 72-hour probable cause affidavit of Assault 3rd degree on an officer, Felon being possession of a firearm, and possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Witnesses later corroborated that Aho discharged the firearm in the park at a parked vehicle’s windows, causing the damage.

The Richland Police
Department is releasing the following information pursuant to RCW 4.24.550 and
the Washington State Supreme Court decision in State vs Ward. This decision authorizes law enforcement
agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when they believe the
information will enhance public safety.
The individual who
appears in this release has been convicted of sex offenses that require
registration with the Sheriff’s Office in the county where they reside. Further, their previous criminal history
places them in a classification level that reflects the potential to
reoffend.
The offender has served the sentence imposed
by the Court and has advised the Benton County Sheriff’s Office they will be
living at the location listed above.

is not wanted by the police at this time.
This notification is not intended to increase fear, but rather, it is
our belief that an informed public is a safer public.

Department has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender will
live. The offender is constitutionally
free to live wherever they choose.
Sex offenders have
always lived in our community. It was
not until the passage of the Community Protection Act of 1990 that Law
Enforcement even knew where they were living.
We are now able to share this information with you.
Citizen abuse of
this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders
will not be tolerated. Further, such
abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community
notifications. We believe the only
person who wins if notification ends is the sex offender.
